About Us

In 2012, Juli met Dave serendipitously at a homebrew bottle share in San Diego, CA. Many collaboration batches and one blue ribbon later, we have merged equipment and are brewing together for good!

Our goals include mastering classic brewing styles, experimenting with new approaches and brewing techniques, exploring barrel aging and wild/sour fermentations, and, above all, crafting delicious beers. The goal of this blog is to detail our brewing process (good, bad, and ugly) so that others can benefit from our experiences. We will post all of our recipes as we go along.

Join us as we chronicle our brewing adventures. Cheers!

About Dave

I started brewing back in 1996, but got serious about things in 2005 when I was reacquainted with Ballast Point’s HomeBrew Mart. After brewing many beers and wanting to do something with all my spent grain, I decided to start a small business in 2009 called Doggie Beer Bones. It’s been a great endeavor into the San Diego craft and homebrew scene, not to mention all the great dogs I’ve met. My brewing bug really bit hard when I tried my first sour beer, and I haven’t looked back since. Currently, I’m working on several barrel-aged, wild, and sour ales based on Belgian and American brewing traditions. I love reading about all the great things happening in the local San Diego brewing community as well as the brewing community abroad.

About Juli

I have been homebrewing since 2007, but have only been brewing all-grain since 2011. I love to nerd out about the history of classic beer styles and how to brew them in a historically accurate way. As a result, I tend to go through style phases. Most recently, I have been interested in English bitters. Next on the list: the widely celebrated world of German wheat beers (stay tuned for our dunkelweizen!). Check out my previous brewing blog at brewbunny.wordpress.com to find my personal brewing history, old recipes, equipment builds, and brew day blog posts.
